Lines Overview

The House

Imagine you have a house with six very exocentric housemates.

First Line - One is the guy who lives in the basement. He does some kind of research but nobody really knows what because he is usually to busy studying to come out of the basement.

Second Line - The second guy lives in the bedroom on the first floor. He likes to dance naked late into the night with the lights on. He has no idea that all the neighbors can see him. The only reason they haven't reported him for indecent exposure is that he's actually a pretty good dancer, although he clearly has never had any formal training.

Third Line - The third guy hasn't quite found his place in the house so for now he has set up a little bed on the landing of the stairs between the first and second floor. He's not happy about it because everyone bumps into him when they go past. This wakes him up. The only saving grace is that it sometimes is a cute guest who bumps into him, which often leads to unexpected alliances. They never stay long though, since he doesn't exactly have much space.

Fourth Line - The fourth guy has a room on the second floor with a balcony. He loves standing on the balcony and calling out to his friends. He can be quite set in his views and often succeeds in convincing his friends to change theirs.

Fifth Line - The fifth guy also shares a room on the second floor, but he isn't as outgoing as his floor mate. You can often see him doing things in his room if you stand outside and look up at the window. People have different opinions as to what he is actually doing or what he's like. Some think he is the greatest and have high hopes that his talents will be very helpful. Others say he is full of promises but didn't come through for them.

Sixth Line - Then you have the sixth guy. He lives in the attic and spends a lot of time on the roof! It is not like he isn't friendly, but he is a bit aloof. He likes to sit and gaze at the architecture of the next house on the street. Although he doesn't participate much in the household activities, he is the best person to go to if you need to know anything about the weather or general activities on the block because there isn't much that he doesn't see.

Self Study: Count all your first lines, second lines, third lines, etc. Do you have more of one than the others. Do you have more in the upper trigram than the lower? Share your thoughts in the Forum.
