Can there be too much Zen?
Osho spoke of this in length.
People obsessed with enlightenment;
tricking themselves,
thinking that this is their strength.
Exposing his own paradox,
he spoke about silence and the unconscious mind.
Telling his disciples to speak less
and leave the nonsense behind.
As we traverse our way through the mundane plane
we get glimpses of that which we know as the truth.
We press for more…
We press for more of this feeling of youth.
Our minds respond with glee;
This must be what The Heretic calls strategy!
Now we begin to speak;
Speak to all who will listen?
Speak only of our dance with destiny?
Speak only with like minds?
Are we awake because we say we are?
Who determines this?
Walking side by side
we find some of that which we seek.
We drink the nectar of awakeness
and no longer feel so weak.
Then we become drunk with passion
for more and more and more;
Letting our minds trick us
into acting in our own movie,
and believing that this is what God has in store.
There is a path which we all must take,
the totality cannot be denied.
We can ride in the vehicle that we are given
and stare through the windows outside.
Silence unfolds all of the beauty
That this gaze will bequeath
But ordering the driver to speed up
will not clear out the conditioning contained beneath.
I do not know whether I am awake…
And pointing fingers is not my intent;
But there is no way to just perform a ritual
And declare yourself heaven sent.
Though I am not a real poet,
I have something to say when,
a friend drowned while meditating.
Could it be too much Zen?
