I enjoyed tuning in to Ra each day, Saturday to Monday afternoon in London, UK. The experience had much of the character of being there in the room with him and was more intimate than listening to one of his recorded CDs.

Let me add that I was using an ADSL Broadband 500 kbps link, so my experience may have been quite different from anyone using a slower dial-up modem. At one point though on the second day, my ISP dropped my connection unexpectedly and I missed about 20 minutes of material.

The chat room format I enjoyed (rather like whispering in class without the teacher ever catching you!) but sometimes it got distracting if lots of comments/questions were being typed one after another. Actually, I was one of the worst offenders on that score! Having said that, it was an excellent way of recording notes, comments and questions for later reference (see some of mine in the other GI topic section). Also, the online participants were able to switch around between all the slides when we wanted - something the participants in Ibiza were not able to do. Throughout the entire session we were able to talk to each other in the chat room, and many interesting comments and observations were made in this way too.

The most frustrating thing though was the the fact that the sound from Ra in Ibiza kept cutting out for 4 or 5 seconds every 2 or 3 minutes. Someone suggested that this was because they had to keep putting coins in the telephone slot in the hotel in Ibiza to keep the transmission going!! Gennaro, is this true? It needs to be rectified for future webcasts.

The drop outs frequently occurred when Ra was making some very important point and often when delivering some specific detail of information. Now I have to wait for the archived sound files when they become available as the recording I made myself at the time is virtually useless.

The sound quality of the actual transmission itself wasn't great. I didn't expect 5.1 surround sound but could it also be improved in future webcasts?

Overall, though, there was a strong sense of joining in with the global Human Design community during the course of those few days and making new contacts and friends that I would otherwise not have met.

Many thanks to Gennaro for setting up the online event and for his courteous and professional hosting of it.

Gerard.

Hi Gerard,
Thanks for your comments. I am glad to hear all the good things you had to say. Your experience was very much like those who had simple dial up modems, which proves my experience that you don't need a fast connection to do the class.
I wanted to address the cutting of audio issue though, as I agree it tarnished a near perfect webcast. Every 4 or 5 minutes the audio would cut out for a second or two and this was experienced by everyone. I had technicians on both sides of the Atlantic trying to fix it and they eventually concluded that it was specific to that one line in that Hotel conference room. We've never seen anything like it before and even though we could not fix it, as long as we don't use that room, we are confident we won't have the problem again. Before the event we did several tests between Ibiza and NY and it all went fine, but unfortunately we were not able to do one from that exact line, thus the surprise.
So I apologize for that. The audio archives will be up shortly with excellent audio quality and you will have access to that for review and recording.
Thanks for attending the class.
Gennaro.
