Your homework to be done before 2nd call:

1. Review Section A of course material and begin to review Section B - Integration Channels.

2. Write a 5 line sentance about what the red and black mean and why it's important to know this when looking at a chart. Write your homework here in the forum.

3. Review Chart Overview recording in Archives.

4. Practice chart overview with your partner pointing out the Red and Black. See if you can identify the different types of channels that they have (manifestor/projector/manifestor generator/generator).

- You will present the chart overview live on the second call.

The black represents a personality signiture at the time of birth, which we will have access to thru our lives. Its that which we are able to consciously use in ourselves; a part of ourselves we can rely on. The red represents the time in our human design that the soul entered the body. This happens approximately 90 days before birth. This red operates unconsciouly in us; a part of us that impacts us in a way we cannot determine or access at will, thru out our lives.

Homework from Diane Simon

The black in the bodygraph indicates what we are
familiar with, our personality. It is what is
conscious; what we have access to, who we think we
are; what we associate with.
The red in the bodygraph, on the other hand,
called our design is what is unconscious. It is
hidden from us; a part of us we're not familiar with
and don't have access to.
Neither can be changed but we can change our
perspective on who we are. It's important to know
this when looking at a chart so one can point out how
different the red and black are from one another, the
way they work, how they impact the client and how the
client may experience that difference.

Linda Burge Projector 1/4

Line Distribution

Lower Trigram 11

5 Gates in Line 1, 3 black, 2 red
1 Gate in Line 2, 1 red
4 Gates in Line 3, 4 black, 1 red

Upper Trigram 15

2 Gates in Line 4, 2 red
7 Gates in Line 5, 5 black, 2 red
6 Gates in Line 6, 1 black, 5 red

My conscious Sun and Earth are both on a first line and define the Channel of Structuring, which suggests the depth needed for stable foundations. The inherent harmony between the first and fourth lines of the hexagram can help to balance the tension with my unconscious Sun and Earth both on a fourth line resonating with the theme of externalisation. As these seek to move outwards there is the need for the support that the lower trigram can lay down.

So many subtle interrelationships revealed by the lines and ways they can open awareness to living the not-self. Listening to Ra brought a little more acceptance by revealing how seven gates in line 5’s can mirror some of my experiences as a projector with a wariness around expressing opinions. Very slow here with Mercury and Saturn in the same gate but some amazing insights.

Becky here, 5/1 Manifesting Generator. i have a preponderance of 1 lines, I do go deeply into things, but the topics that interest me are ideas that have the potential to be shared with others on a broad scale. i am close to my 1/3 ister, we were born 3 months apart and share some cross activations, she also does a lot of research but it is all on personal issues, her health or art projects etc.

to go on about the1 lines, my Design Sun and Earth are about deep dedication and the depth of innocence in the face of challenge. i don't know how innocent I am, but i certainly turn inward when I am challenged by life, look for the depth. I have been doing this for decades with astrology. Another line 1 tendence comes out in a 16 placement, which makes me a daydreamer, 18 which bring conservatism, and 33 which is my favorite strategy--retreat when you are in a weak position!

Interestingly enough these themes are echoed in my 5 activations, 12 is caution as an expression of social experience, 6 is avoidance of direct conflict in favor of harmony. 46 is the tendency to remain pratical, stick to the rhythm that brings success. All these 5 activations show the context of the outer world for the behavior.

Lines are totally fascinating, I look forward to going deeper into this, so I can universalize it for my clients!

Homework #5 - Lines

Profile 1/3

(4) 1st line Gates
(1) 2nd line Gates
(5) 3rd line Gates
(7) 4th line Gates
(3) 5th line Gates
(6) 6th line Gates

I found it interesting that although there is this introspection and learning from my life experiences (learning not to call them mistakes), that there is so much of a drive to externalize that which I have learned. Significantly to share with those close to me. Learning I have to 'get it' myself first before offering to others. I see now that that's how I'm wired and previously living the not self, had it backwards. Good riddance to the drive to 'fix' the world and everyone in it that drove me for so long. What a cosmic joke that we actually do that just not in that order!

So I thought it would be interesting to see which gates/behaviours were carrying the line energy and themes. I made a heading by line # and listed and researched those that applied. There were a lot of acknowledgements and awareness of understanding my behaviors at a deeper level. Although with a completely open throat center, deep awareness is not always easily expressed. Recognizing that what I express can be influenced by my emotional wave, I find I need a lot of patience where I can take my time to express since speaking my opinions/feelings are always subject to change due to new insights, as well as if I was aware I was speaking of others opinions (open head) :).

So it was a really profound exercise to do this. I was able to see the focus of the line energies and themes within the gates sharing the same lines and more deeply understand the sense or flavor of the lines as it pertains to my own experience as well as in teaching and explaining to others.

Very cool. Thanks so much Lynda for making this program available to us. I have found deeper understanding for myself while learning this for others. Thanks for the continued opportunity. :)

I have:
2 gates with 1st line-introspection/insecurity
8 gates with 2nd line-natural/hermit
5 gates with 3rd line-trial and error
15 gates in lower trigram
4 gates with 4th line-externalization
6 gates with 5th line-universalization
3 gates with 6th line-role model
13 gates in upper trigram

Learning more about the lines and therefore my profile has helped a lot of things make sense. I am a 2/4. People always see me as a really outgoing person, yet I always feel as if they don't see the real me, the quiet, hermit side. I also see that some of the hermit really is from knowing things and being hesitant to share or put myself out there. I never really had to study and being a manifesting-generator I'm always skipping steps and I know and learn anyway. When I share, I am comfortable sharing with those close to me and never really have the drive to speak to a larger audience. Most of all, HD is helping me accept who I am and it is such a relief to stop constantly trying to change things or make myself wrong.

the 3

I have the 3 in my design – and by studying this material and learning what it means to have this in my design, I have experienced a great sense of relief. I have always been one to have many experiences, and I have always been one to have many experiences that while I would not call them “mistakes,” deep down there may have been a sense of shame. By learning that my design is to experiment, to fall down, to discover – that this is perfectly natural for me – this has released the sense of shame and the equally powerful fear that I could be making a mistake… There are no mistakes for me…

most profound for me was understanding the 4 lines. so many times in my life i have been pouring out what my inner voices says are private intimate details of my life and wondering why i don't just shut my mouth.
ahhh now i finally get it.
this has been great

Homework #4 Integration/Tribal

CHARISMA 20-34
An Integration Channel, the keynote is individuation. There can be an energy of being selfish, self absorbed or self centered and often not concerned about how you impact others. This is healthy and not to feel guilty about this as this energy is there to ensure our individual survival. You are to display self love by putting yourself first. You will thrive by simply following your own path without concern. (Should there be activation in the Channel of Struggle, gates 28 or 38, then you can have the ability to impact the other.) Back to the Channel of Charisma, this is a design where thoughts become deeds. The only pure manifesting generator channel. The healthiest thing is for you to be busy in life, but busy with things from a positive sacral response, things that you love, otherwise you will be busy, busy with things that are not for you and can wear yourself out. It may be difficult to wait for the response because you can be up and moving before you know it. You don’t like to be told what to do, you are true individual.

Lynda's class--Last homework

Every week after doing my assignment I get this thought: "the more you know, the more you know you need to know". Isn't it so true? I've done so many readings and as far as understanding Human Design, I really am just "getting it". Maybe this is all meant for me to learn about myself and well, maybe there is much more. I'm a 5/1 self-projected projector so maybe I have much to give and share with others.

I have in my design: four #1 lines of the hexagram
two #2 lines " " "
three #3 lines " " "
two #4 lines " " "
seven #5 lines " " "
six #6 lines " " "

I didn't realize until this week how important all of the fifth and sixth lines were. It certainly explains much about my life and how things have come together.
Perhaps the most unique event is a new found attactment and love of---don't laugh---- animals. All of my life I have stayed away from them, shooed them away because of my fear of triggering my allergies. I would either start having my eyes water and nose run or a combination thereof , or, if I would pet animals, my hands would begin itching and I would get severe rashes. I have found however that I have two of the three gates that the I Ching calls the cross-species connections between animals and Humans. I have the gate #49 -line 5 an emotional connection to mamals and the gate #62 (two times 62-line four and 62-line five) a potential to communicate with and train animals. Heck, I may another gate but I can't find it yet. So, that is very interesting but what's the significance?
Just recently, cats and dogs have been coming up to me, licking me, rubbing up against me, and I haven't had any negative body reactions. No runny nose, no itchy hands. I have actually enjoyed them and have put theses same animals I couldn't get close to the past, on my wavemaker. I have upgraded flower essences that I recomended by holding the cats and dogs and using the Wavemaker to help them with their negative emotional states. I find this remarkable! I feel like the Paul of Tarsus to the animal world. Could this all be some genetic chemical unleasing of latent talent? Perhaps. But perhaps I always had it. Perhaps I was only meant to use my gifts to help the emotional and physical state of animals, when I was ready.
There may be a great business out there just in helping animals with the skills that we are learning. Wouldn't that be cool? Stay tuned. Is there a chart for Animal Design that I could read?

Tony's Lines Assigment

I'm a 2/4 Manifesting Generator.
I have been reading, asking, researching and studying on Human Design since my own reading on Sep/03... I've read even when I didn't understand what I was reading, knowing that at some point, everything would fall into place gradually.

It has been a wonderful journey. I never payed much attention to lines until I began this course. I noticed the flavor they add to the gate and the planet where the gate is. I have not only fallen in love with my design but with every design I encounter. I have a deeper appreciation of myself and everyone around me.

I have most of my gates in the upper trigram and very few on the lower trigram. Nonetheless, having a 2 in my Personality Sun and Earth, I am very much a hermit. I see now why I go about the things I do trying not to be disturbed (I spend many hours a week "hiding @ home") and people are always asking me questions thinking I know the answers... So I do, don't know how, I just do.

I have 9 gates on a 4th line including my design Sun & Earth... So I guess even at an unconscious level I do influence others by doing my thing. If I see my HD chart from a 3rd party perspective, I can see the influence it can have when it "gets out there", out of the cave... Responding to the right oportunities.

I am still a bit green on lines... As I go through charts and my notes, They will come naturally.

I need to see more of me in here, so that I can se more of "others"...

This has been a marvelous experience: The ON-LINE Classroom, Technical Support, My Classmates; and an awesome Teacher... I look forward to more DEPTH & UNDERSTANDING.

One of the most important things that studying the lines in my design brought me is more self-acceptance.
I have 1's on my sun, earth, moon and two other gates and have always felt insecure in moving forward in different aspects of my life and have always wanted to get to the root of things. I have also felt insecure until I studied and really learned something.
I have half of my gates in the lower trigram and half on the upper trigram, but the ones that have the strongest influence (on my profile and my personality: moon) are on the lower trigram. And I have always felt I am more self-involved rather than being concerned with interacting with others.
Knowing the lines gave more meaning to the gates that are activated more than once in my design. For example, I have gate 47 activated four times and gate 22 activated three times, with different lines.
Also, I noticed that some of my easiest and closest relationships are with my profile harmonic lines.

Last homework assignment

Well, I think I finally understnd what having a 1/3 profile means.

With a 1 on the personality side, this means I am introspective and wanting to study and fully understand something before going forward or outward with it. I need to figure out how to do things. Aloofness is a descriptive characteristic of 1 and I wish I had a dollar for every time I've been castigated for being 'aloof', particularly since I have individual circuitry. I have black 1's in gates 44, 24 and 35. I have red 1's in gates 62 and 12. This means I'm going to be trying to consciously figure out how to be alert to patterns and instinctive memory: to find a way to communicate my unique insight and to focus on not being goal oriented.
Unconsciously, I will be trying to figure out the detail of how things should be organized and how to be about not-doing. Interesting to me is that gate 62 is connected to the thyroid. I was irradiated as a newborn for weeping eczma and asthma. Consequently, the rest of my life has been dealing with thyroid and parathyroid cancer and malfunctioning thyroid as a result of that medical treatment -- an interesting comment on metamorphasis.

With a 3 on the design side, I will be learning my life lessons through trial and error, making mistakes along the way and, it is hoped, something great will emerge from my mistakes. I have black 3's in gates 4 and 48 with red 3's in gates 33, 19, and 12. This means that consciously my trial and error learning will most occur in the areas of applying myself to the task instead of just coasting and in expression of vital information that I have. It's always been a shock to me when I've had to really study something so that makes sense. Unconsciously, I will be adapting through trial an error in the area of sharing my experiences (discernment? - not my strongest area when applied to myself), in being overly sensitive and disturbed (Amen!), and again in the area of not-doing. Just being is very hard for me.

I also have many 5's in black gates 23, 43 (twice) and red gates 33 and 18. Since 5's are about universalizaton, what everyone projects the meaning of that gate to be, they can be opportunities to either succeed or fail in that projection. This affects me in the conscious areas of eliminating intolerance and turning my inner knowing into true insight. Unconsciously I have opportunities to succeed or fail in the areas of sharing experiences/ privacy and dealing with my conditioning. This last one in a constant experience and it is confusing. Is surpassing my conditioning a success or a failure?

I have the most lines in 6 which is transitional, focused on the circuit not the gate only. They are more individual than collective and more collective than tribal. 6's see the big picture with an eagle-eye view of the future, with the downside of missing what is right in front of them and not appreciating what they have now. The black is in gate 1 where I consciously deal with expressing myself. The red lines are in gates 49, 8, 14, 56, 1, and 33. So unconsciously I am seeing what and whom is or is not needed for the good of the community; my individual contributions to the whole; knowing the direction to go; being a seeker; expressing myself and sharing experiences. The 6's, in being on the roof of the house/ hexagram are not so much about that particular hexagram as they are about the transition to the next hexagram where what they need to know next is in line 1. So I would be next wanting to know about patience in structuring, composure, superficiality, bullys, manifestation and authoritarianism. I have to say that I feel the most resonance with the 3's and the 6's.

Final Homework -- lines and my design

I'm a 5/1 emotional projector, single definition.

3 gates first line
6 gates second line
7 gates third line
16 gates lower trigram
4 gates fourth line
3 gates fifth line
3 gates sixth line
10 gates upper trigram

While the sun and moon make up 70 percent of my design, giving me the 5/1 -- it's an eye opener to take a look at my chart this way. With so much "weight" in the lower trigram, it feels as though the introspection/projection and adaptation lessons of personal destiny is my school. It feels to me that through living these, only then can I really take whatever it is I take out to "universalize" and ensure it has practical value. I laughed when I saw the third line has the majority of gates activated! Lots of trial and error and adaptation and finding out what doesn't work so I know better what does. Must all add up somewhere to having a pretty good sense of humor about it all.

Lots more to learn! Thanks!

Homework #4: Integration and Tribal Circuit Groups

10-57 -- technically isn't part of a circuitry. Known as an integration channel. My daughter has this and the 10 is unconscious; the 57 conscious. Gate 10 is all about personal survival, the potential behavior of self -- guided by intuition of the splenic awareness. She may, with the 57 as conscious, be aware of her commitment to herself, her love of living and being alive. She can penetrate the core in the now if she pays attention and transforms the trial and error of the struggles she experiences. Pay attention to your gut whether it's an immediate yes or no -- it's yours and right for you.

Homework #3 -- Individual and Centering Circuitry

28-38 -- The Channel of Struggle, in the knowing/individual circuit group. Keynote is empowerment. Connects splenic gate of struggle with root gate of stubborness. This appears in my daughter's chart with the fifth line emphasized. This appears to have the characteristics of a game player who will take risks alone and live the consequences alone. Her struggle is to know that life is full of value. The pressure she experiences to challenge will be matched by a willingness to play. Her chart shows a stubborness to overcome the odds (stick-to-itiveness). She has the ambition to endure. She may not recognize that there are others who can help.

Homework #2 -- Pick a channel in Collective Circuitry

30-41 -- The channel of recognition, a design of focused energy. This channel is in the sensing or abstract subcircuit of the collective circuit. This appears in my chart. The 30th gate is conscious so I may be ware of a thirst for destiny or hunger for change. Seated in the solar plexus, the invitation is to wait out the emotional wave (with patience) from pain to hope and ultimately leave the outcome to the universe -- no forcing outcomes. The companion gate 41, in the root, is unconscious in my chart. I'm guessing this could mean that I won't always be aware of the desire or pressure I'm feeling to be recognized? Would welcome your feedback.

Homework on Lines

Another dimension that adds so much more clarity to the profile and gate keynotes.

In my design I have:
4 Gates in the 1st Line
2 Gates in the 2nd Line
4 Gates in the 3rd Line
10 gates in the lower trigram
5 Gates in the 4th Line
5 Gates in the 5th Line
6 Gates in the 6th Line
16 gate in the upper trigram
More in the upper trigram than lower therefore a more external delivery of getting it out there

with six in the 6 line - I'm out there on the roof looking for the next thing what ewver that may be

I have the 4/1 profile so I'm grounded in the introspection, searching into the research and details and then kicking it upstairs to talk about them with friends, colleagues, close acquaintances.

In the past my open ego center was using this to prove things to others. now I have learned that through research and externalizing what is or what is not I can have mastery and not do things to prove it.

Homework 5

Wow...what did I get from this part of the homework?......where to start....so much. I am confusing the issue slightly here as I am focusing on my Chiron reading rather than my birth chart.

I have it in the personality side of my design to create a strong foundation for taking people from understanding to the application of how to be in the moment, how to be in the flow of the rythmn of life.

The hermit in me knows this but is shy to share with others. I am comfortable sharing my awareness around direction and empowerment with people near to me through the fourth line. Universalisation comes into play with the gate 20, the Gate of the Now. I have become aware of avoiding this one and looking beyond it for THE thing that I am here for. Focusing on being in the body, being in the moment is such an obvious concept for me, I tend to see through it.

On the unconscious level, there is a some study lines with a lot of trial and error and then univeralisation. It seems that the study is around having a foundation understanding of what it takes to connect with and express our needs in the now in a way that is provovative yet non confrontational to others. There is some trial and error around how to get that out and with whom to colloborate. The universalisation part is about my overcoming my own lack of confidence in getting over the message that any significant changes need direction, focus and committment. There is a great deal in my design of needing to BE what I present to other, of walking my talk. The lack of confidence and lack of connection with my having any to offer appears to be the key issue for me to work with.

The other thing that I got from all of this is that with the 5/2 profile and the tendancy to be the hermit, my actualisation is down to me. I do not get a calling from outside, I am dependant on calling myself. I got the depth of the challenge in that and the constant draw to retreat.

I could go on but I won't....enough.
Wonderful exercise. I learnt such a lot of valuable insights.

Channel of Synthsis 19/49

This channel 19/49 is a disign of sensitivity--this means being sensitive to balancing your own needs with the needs of the other and the group. You are very much in tune with wo belongs to the group, and how much everyone is dependant on each other. You want to be supported and to give support. The most important thing is to wait to be invited, when others have recognized you.

This channel, the 57 -10 connecting your spleenic center to the g center is known as the Channel of Perfected Form with the design of survival. It is one of the few channels that techinchally isn't part of a circuitry and is known as an Integration Channel. The keynote here is Self Empowerment - this is all about your personal survival. As you become aware of and heed your intuition (coming from the spleenic) you will have the opportunity to begin to modify your personal behaviour accordingly.
A bonus with this channel is you are able to detect very subtle changes in sound. Ever hear yourself say " I don't know how I know I just know that I know" - this is from this channel. It would be very good for you to follow this.

34/20 The Channel Of Charisma ~~ Intregration Channel
This is a design where Thoughts must become Deeds. I have this channel and I notice that the healtiest response for me is to be busy doing exactly what I love to do. In this way I can/do empower others. I notice that when I am busy it helps me to integrate the awareness I constantly receive. It is very important to constantly be responding to life vs coming from my mind. However, this can be the most difficult thing for me to do. Because this channel is technically a manifestor channel it is very difficult for me to wait because of my constant need to be in motion. The 43/23 channel, The Structuring Channel, is the best guides for us, however, we can never be told what to do by someone else. We are definately individuals.

40-37 Community

40-37 Community

1. Circuitry is tribal - Support.
2. Center Keynotes: Material Survival and Feelings.
3. Channel Keynote: Community – A part seeking a whole
4 . Channel Type: Projector - Recognition.
5 . Is it all Design - Conscious.
6. Come back to strategy.

This channel is the desire to feel a part of a community. You have feelings of needing to support the group by bringing in material resources for the benefit of all. In order to be a part of the community you need to feel that your ability to provide is recognized by the members of the community. If you live your strategy this will lead to feeling welcome within the community and feeling supported and recognized by the others members. You are probably aware of this tendency to bring material support and this longing for recognition and the support of others because this is conscious.

You have the channel of community. It links the heart center to the emotional center. This is part of the tribal/ego circuit. The "bargain" underlies everything tribal, "I'll do for you, if you do for me." This channel is about building community, where everyone has their place and function.
You invest in the community with things money can't buy and expect something in return...loyalty, respect, etc. People contribute what tey can to the community in order to feel like they belong.

Tribal Circuitry Group – The Ego Circuit Channel of Surrender 44-26

You have this Channel of Surrender which is part of the Tribal Circuitry. It is a link in the Ego Circuit that connects your Splenic center with your Heart center.. There is an old and instinctive survival pattern around this like a resonance of past memory. And you have the creative willingness to make changes and improvements – and this transmutes these old anxieties through a process of surrender. This is not just for your personal development and support but gives you the talent to transmit ideas and information to create resources for the benefit of your family and the tribe - though as we have already explored, you need their invitation and support. Once that is in place then what you transmit will be expressed in just the right way for your audience to receive it and to benefit from your creative inspirations.

4-Channel 44-26-Transmitter

Channel 44-26 is the Transmitter. It is all about transmitting money with support to the tribe. It is sometimes known as the Channel of the Entrepeneur. This is a projected channel...with the need to be recognized.

You must be paid for your item and receive support. Otherwise, at the deepest level, the "tribe" will not be happy. After all, it needs money to survive. This channel combines gate 44, which is about our oldest instinctual memory with 26 which is about maniuplating that memory in the interests of improvement. It is very creative in that it replaces the old with the new.

A couple things to watch out for... Gate 26 (the Salesman) can be very manipulative. After all, it is about manipulating the old to create something new. In practice, this could be viewed and carried out in a less than positive light. Also, watch for smells. If you don't like how someone smells stay away from them. You can smell a rat...& success!

Sandra - Channel of Charisma

You have the channel of charisma, a design where thoughts must become deeds. You have a deep need to be busy and this will impact others if you are busy doing something you love. It is also very healthy for you if you are busy for yourself.
Since you have a deep need to be busy you might have the tendency to be busy doing anything but in order to be busy in what is correct for you, you must wait for your sacral response. Must be careful not to do something because your mind tells you it's the right thing to be doing, since it could be very depressing.
Having this channel, your sacral connected to your throat, your sacral response can be in words.
