I've recently been talking online with Mary Douglas, the well known Oxford professor of Anthropolgy. She has developed a theory of culture that I thought would be worth sharing because it seems to offer a view of HDS in action across large cultures within society.

The following diagram shows her distribution of people into various cultural types. I have overlaid, in red, the corresponding HDS stream.
