We all know that the strategy of Generators is 'wait to respond'.

Now there are people who think this hard-line approach seems a bit unpractical in daily life.

For example you should not always wait to respond but simply back off in case you meet resistance instead.

There is this well known example of a business producing flyers to promote it. Some say it's correct to distribute these flyers but if you meet resistance, ie a door not opening at the first ring etc. then back off.

After thinking about the whole thing for some time, I have to say the hard line version, not initiating anything, has more beauty to me. Yes, it scares you to death because there is every possibility that you business will die only to show you that you did not enter into it correct.

In my opinion the right way to start a business is: only if there is immediate demand, ie ,some people I know, ask for something to be done. I realize that I could do that, then I will appoach them and offer my services. If there are more and more people coming, it could be time to start a business.

The softened approach would be starting the business first and producing flyers.
But this will seduce people to get involved in things for what there was no real need or demand in the first place.

I mean how often did you buy something that you really don't need only because of good advertising or promotion?

There is a lot of uneccessary rubbish in this world because people simply don't wait to respond. Everyone is desperate to sell. Think about it. You could be the first to stop this insanity. But it will take a lot of courage and trust in life on your part.

What do you think?

Steve

You are right but let's keep in mind it never can be about getting 'more' business. It can only be about getting what's right for you.

Sometimes I have the impression that people try to use HD to get more business, be more sucessful, etc. Of course that's not what HD is about.
HD shows you what's right for you. If that's living in a hut in India with no money you have to fully accept it. But it will feel alright for you and that's what matters.
What to do with all the millions in the world if they can't make you happy because they are not meant to be with you?

I still watch that many people even in the HD community still try to 'do' something. Search for something. In reallity we are already there. All what's missing is the full acceptance of it. We are running away from ourselves, because we are blind and see ourselves as someone we are not. Even worse want to become somebody else.

Of course this will never happen and all we end up with is this deep feeling of being a failure.

With 66% having an open heart centre it's about time we sit down and take a good look at ourself. We better start to like what we already are, because that's all we need.

If you are a Generator: wait to respond and in the meantime there's not much else to do than love yourself. You already have arrived.

I used to do that. But of course the results were what you describe. A big waste of energy. I think the diference is the level of frustration/enjoyment. If you respont to putting them out your frustration will be lower and enjoyment higher. All things being equal I don't think one will get you more business than the other because you can't control who signs up with you. But the act of putting the fliers out there will at least be correct.

But the question is 'did you respond' when producing flyers?

Most people I know don't. They produce flyers and start knocking on doors first. Then they respond to open doors but that's too late.

I see it as a chain reaction. Because you run around 'manifesting' and producing something nobody asked you for.

You on the other hand then try to talk people into something they don't want. They spend money they don' t have for what they don't need and therefore have to do work they don't like to pay for something they never needed in the first place. You are surprised the whole world is frustrated?

I know this example is a bit extreme but that's what happenes when I look out the door.

The corresponding projector's dilemma

Howdy Steve,

I see its been a while since you posted this but I thought I'd make a comment from my projector's view.

As my strategy is also to wait - but for an invitation for significant opportunities, a similar difficulty arises as many people are generators and so need something to respond to. Granted the aura is ultimately the best stimulus for those responses, I still wonder what part I could play in that process.

For the last few months I have stepped back a bit from initiating even casual conversations with anyone unfamiliar and just going on with my regular activities. In most regards, it has been quite relaxing - less stressful. Yet I am dying to talk more so I resort to this forum as I am so keen to talk about Human Design. Only rarely do people start up a conversation with me - and of course then I am delighted. Ah well, I know so much of it is my lingering not-self strategies especially needing to prove my self (undefined heart) and the longstanding lack of recognition from being a projector that has been rarely invited into much.

Getting back to your thoughts on the business start up and promotion through flyers, I would have to say that one can never be responsible for the fact that someone else didn't follow their strategy.

Looking back at what I have bought in the past is a bit weird. I have indeed bought something based on someone else's 'authority' or marketing only to discover my dissatisfaction with it later. I have also bought things that at the time I wondered 'why am I buying this ? I don't need it right now' only to find that I did need it sometime later. Or even vice versa - I didn't buy something when I had the chance but was tempted to and walked away only to go back later, after realizing I did need it after all.

Granted that I can't claim to be following my design all that well, I can't say just what is very consistent for me (a projector with no inner authority).

In terms of starting up a business versus waiting to respond to a growing need - I would say that one is right for some people and the other approach for other people. It all depends on your own design. I can see where some would be fine starting up a business and happily being busy with all of the getting set up work of getting flyers made and setting up accounting, establishing a product line and so on. Others would find that pointless and need to have a growing list of clients or potential clients before making the major commitment and investment.
